Very intriguing to watch the "Call & Response" body language... the musicians listen with their eyes, turn their attention toward a sound that attracts them and follow through with a timely response on keys or through fingers or a breath into an instrument. Lots to reflect on in this piece...no one is ignored, the music demands a response: a look, a sound, a head bob, a toe tap.

Just ran across your blog. Interesting concept. I love jazz. I interned for JazzTimes magazine when I was in college. I think the bug started around then. Blessings! - Jumaine

It's so interesting to watch the differences between Miles and John Coltrane (the saxophonist). Miles plays with his eyes open, staring intently at a spot somewhere in front of him, his concentration unerring. Trane leans back and closes his eyes, pinching his eyebrows together and rocking with the progession of his solo. But these very different styles converge to create one uninterrupted musical expression.

Jazz is a great thing and there is much to be learned. I have a twenty year old who is a Jazz performance major and has just begun to break the ice of knowledge. Nice blog--I look forward to reading and listening to more.
